Research into the dynamics of how individuals, formal and informal groups, cultures, and societies evolve and change over space and time is vital to the design and management of effective organizations. The rapidly evolving field of complexity provides a useful way to model social dynamics in a scientific manner

The researchers in OPEM group use new class of social network models to study how organizational structure affects innovation, collaboration and productivity. Specifically, by adding the features such as network flow and node capacity to the complex networks of knowledge and creativity in an organization, the group develops design principles for effective teams and organizational structures.
